Post Partum Challenges

House helper needed

    Hi ladies,

I am looking to hire someone who can help out for the first 2-4 weeks post partum in October for about 2 hours each day.

This is my second child, and it will be hard to manage a toddler and a newborn with a planned C-section, so it should be someone who can make some basic food, do some laundry, clean the floor if need be. Just whatever around the house that needs help.

I'm not looking for a doula, I wouldn't want the woman to hold my newborn or offer tips or breastfeeding advice. Just help with whatever my lack of mobility poses challenges with.

Can anyone suggest someone good? It would be a great benefit if she spoke Russian, since my toddler has only started learning English recently, but it's ok if she doesn't (he needs to learn faster anyway).

    Thanks in advance!

I don't have someone to recommend, but will be looking for a helper myself starting in September, for an afternoon or two a week.  If you live nearby perhaps we can share leads?  I live near Dufferin & Center.  Will be posting an ad to find candidates very soon.

too bad you're at Yonge & Finch, I've got a fabulous mother's helper here in Aurora , and I hired her for the exact same reason- only no c-section, and it was after the birth of my 3rd baby.

highly recommend getting a helper , sorry I can't help you more! I found mine on Kijiji though- I posted a want ad, you will get a few cray people responding, but there is always a diamond in the rough!

Thanks Emily! I'm just really worried that I won't be able to filter the crazy prople out. I've never interviewed anyone for such a position. If anyone can share tips, that would be great. The truth is - I don't trust anyone... but I need a mother's helper :(
