Moms Afternoon Tea & Topic: Emotional Wellness for Moms: Mindfulness, connection and emotional regulation ~ Newmarket
Motherhood is a stressful life transition that can lead to difficulties in mood, anxiety and relationships. Learning to become mindful can help you reduce emotional stress and also connect you more deeply with your baby. Mindfulness has been shown to foster infant attachment bonds, and stronger relationships.
We often lose sight of our own needs when we become a mom. This workshop will provide a safe and non-judgmental way to discuss and explore the demands of motherhood, and how your life and relationships have, or will change. As well as looking at the challenges parenting brings, we will talk about ways you can look after yourself emotionally so you have the emotional reserves to look after your family.
About the Listening Mothers Program:
Research has shown that it takes up to 5 months for new moms to fully come to terms with the massive changes in their physical and emotional lives. The Listening Mothers Program is a support circle for moms of babies under 6 months of age. Its an opportunity for new moms to deepen their connection with themselves and their babies, while creating relationships with other new mothers in early postpartum. The goal of the program is to empower parents to become more effective, mindful and compassionate. In this program, you will learn about emotional regulation, while you learn to practice mindfulness together with your infant through various forms of brief guided meditations. These practices can be used at home to increase bonding with your baby and decrease stress levels.
