Bio of Speakers

Fabiana BacchiniWhen Fabiana’s second child was born at just 26 weeks gestational, her life was forever changed. Through the months her son was in the NICU and as he was diagnosed with a complex medical condition that required constant care, Fabiana took each new challenge in stride, her positive attitude never wavering. She is passionate about empowering others to view challenges in their lives as detours instead of roadblocks. Fabiana believes that we can all live fulfilling lives in spite of the challenges we face. She lights up a room with her energy and passion and is constantly looking for ways to give back. Fabiana has over a decade of broadcast experience in two countries, is a sought after speaker, and spent seven years as a life coach focussing on helping women realize their true potential and achieve work-life balance. Since the pre-term birth of her son in 2012, Fabiana has pivoted and spends her time inspiring others going through life changing events in many ways including volunteering in the NICU at Mount Sinai hospital helping new parents navigate the ups and downs of NICU life. She is also on the board of directors at the Canadian Premature Babies Foundation, the founder of a not-for-profit organization called HandfullHearts and the author of From Surviving to Thriving, a Mother’s Journey Through Infertility, Loss and Miracles.

Connie Butera has been with the LWAB team since 2010, after the birth of her first son. Coming from the corporate world, Connie found herself socially isolated postnatal and spending a lot of money on paid play groups and mom & baby classes. She noticed that what the moms really enjoyed most was the mere 10 minutes at the end of the classes, where they got to chit chat and connect. With a noticeable need for more affordable, social and peer to peer based groups in her community, Connie started The Newmarket Goober Gang – a co-op style play group. Very quickly the Newmarket Goober Gang playgroup outgrew its simple “at home play date” model with nearly 100 members in 1 months time. Connie was featured in her local newspaper and was also taking the LWAB Parenting Confidently program at her local Ontario Early Years Centre. Connie was approached by Claire, LWAB Founder & Director, about being a community manager for the York Region North region of LWAB and has been with them ever since!

Today, Connie continues to manage her local LWAB chapter area as well as now joins the team as the Provincial Program Manager; responsible for the launch of new chapters. Connie is also an entrepreneur and professional Event Planner with her own Event Planning Company - Perfectly Planned Parties by Connie Butera. She is also the proud single mother to two special needs children; Jonathan (2010) and Marco (2013). In her free time (to which she doesn’t have much 😊), Connie enjoys baking, cooking, decorating, home décor, country music and physical fitness.

Connie attests much of her professional success and triumphs through difficult parenting times to the village of peer supports and networks she has made via her work through Life With A Baby. Hence, she continues to work with this amazing charity and give back in her community to continue that village growth.

Claire Zlobin is the Founder and Director of Healthy Start, Healthy Future and the Life With A Baby program which offers local, community-based social events to build relationships, online support, and multi-lingual parenting programs. Claire is passionate about supporting parents, developing collaborations, reducing social isolation, and building a healthy future for the next generation.
