Have fun Kim! It sounds fun and stopping alot with toddlers is definately the key to a much happier ride!! We did the ride from Ontario to Nova Scotia and stopped alot..we did the drive in 2.5 days. We had DVD players which my 3.5 year olds watched but Christopher at 20 months (at the time) wasn't as interested so the ride was a bit more challenging for him but with lots of snacks, books and stopping to run around it was fine.

    Have fun!!

So...the RV thing went fairly well. There were a few "let me outta here" moments but for the most part things were good. I would totally do it again and if anyone hasnt done the drive through Northern Ontario...do it!! It was a great trip and totally worth it!

We did the 3 day drive (35 hrs) in about 5.5 days and it was good....we wanted to take our time and see stuff. Riley watched the dvds a bit...but maybe an hr at a time and then was bored with it til later. How many hrs is the drive out east??? We may have to do that next!!

No idea where she got the salmonella--public was errr, a little challenged as well, asking me silly questions like does my 16 mt old still wear diapers.  Not sure why, but the pool seemed to aggravate the salmonella.  Perhaps the water stung, due to diarrhea, or it irritated her already upset tummy or even just the temp change from the air to water???? Luckily, she is doing well right now... :)  Glad your trip went well...Any tips for future travellers with babies????

We are considering the train but its very expensive to get a sleeper cabin, has anyone driven, or taken the train long distances with a toddler???

You can bring music or movies, that helps a lot. Other thing that I did when I went to Cleveland was to sit close to my baby and sing her songs and read her books. The idea is to keep them distracted. I hope this helps and have a nice trip.

we just got back from a trip to Brockville this past Saturday.  Our 10 months old boy was screaming & crying in the back seat..the 3 hours trip made it into almost 6 hours.  We drove to Ottawa & Brockville before when he was much younger. he was fined. This time it was difficult. He was cleaned and well feed before the trip begin. I was sitting in the back with him. He had books, toys and music. I believe this time he feels more retricted being tied up in the car seat for so long. We're planning a family vacation to go down south on the plane, hopefully he will be ok on the plane ride.
