You can check out our pedia, Dr. John Freedman, located a little south of Richmond Hill on Bayview. Here's the address: 300 John St., Suite 310, Thornhill / Phone: 905-881-9831.  He's currently accepting patients from last I heard.  Otherwise, you can see if his fellow doctor Dr. Aubrey Maze does.  She's in the same office.  Best of luck!

    Thanks Nina.

Someone I met yesterday also suggested Dr. Maze...her office is a bit out of the way (we lived north of Richmond Hill, in Oak Ridges) but probably worth the drive :)

My daughter is now a year old.  Her pediatrician was Dr. Maze. For the first 6 months, she had a lot of issues, but Dr. Maze kept saying she was fine.  After three hosptializations, she was diagnosed with Celiac Disease.  My daughter and I also had breast feeding issues.  I worked really hard to make it work but I was unsuccessful.  When I decided to wean her at 2 months,  Dr. Maze just looked at me and said why, you've worked so hard at it.  He just increased my guilt for not being able to breastfeed.  My daughter now has a new pediatrician at Leslie and Sheppard.  Sometimes, it's worth the drive.

Thanks for your comment Sarah.  I hope your daughter is doing well now.

For the first 2 mths my daughter was looked after by a midwife.  My midwife told me I'd lots for time to look for a pediatrician...big mistake...I called all pediatrician in my area and none were accepting new patient.   I had no choice but to settle for a local family doctor.

My daughter was under 6lb at birth and is currently 15lb at 10mths.  My husband and I are both Chinese and not big so we don't think there is an issue with my daughter weight.  At each appt, Dr. Contractor will emphasis on her weight problem and question what I'm feeding her.  Kaitlyn has not gain any weight in 2mths (about the time she'd started crawling).  When I told her Kaitlyn is at my care all day and not at daycare, she was shocked and give me a look like I'm abusing my daughter health.  She said she needs to monitor my daughter weight and "its going to be a BIG problem if she continues to not put on weight"...with that said, I am now looking for new doctor.

    Yvonne,

My daughter is now thriving on a gluten-free diet--thank-you.  Usually, babies are supposed to gain weight steadily from month-to-month on a growing curve that is is described by what percentile of growth they are.  ie. My daughter is on the 50th percentile of growth.  If your daughter is not gaining weight from month-to-month, there may be a biological/physiological issue that may be easily corrected. HOWEVER,  you should not feel attacked, undermined nor uncomfortable with your doctor EVER! To find a new doctor, I took my daughter to a GP and he referred us on to a pediatric consultant, which started a string of referrals until we landed with her current specialist.  Perhaps your GP (or walk-in clinic, if the GP does not work out) can refer you to a pediatrician.  Make is sound like the GP's idea to refer you to the pediatrician, though.  Most pediatricians accept patients thru referrals only.  I campaigned my daughter's specialist for a while to get the referral to her current pediatrician.  The specialist had to write a referring letter to the the pediatrician before she would take my daughter as a patient.
