Maha Hatem Offering Women's mental health counselling
I am a counsellor-in-training with a Master’s degree in Counselling and advanced training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), trauma-informed care, grief and loss counselling, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). My clinical focus is on women’s mental health, with a particular interest in maternal wellbeing and family adjustment. Before moving to Canada, I worked as a family physician in Egypt, where I witnessed the deep connection between emotional and physical health within families. This experience led me to pursue psychotherapy as a path to support women more holistically; helping them navigate anxiety, depression, identity changes, and the emotional transitions that accompany motherhood and family life. As a mother of two boys and a newcomer to Canada, I understand the challenges that arise from balancing personal growth, cultural adjustment, and family responsibilities. I aim to create a warm, empathetic, and culturally sensitive counselling environment where women and families feel understood, validated, and supported in their healing journeys. Fluent in Arabic, English, and French, I am passionate about making mental health care accessible and inclusive. I look forward to contributing to the Life With a Baby community and supporting mothers and families through the complex and meaningful experience of parenthood. HOPE Groups
Hold On Pain Ends. HOPE is a group for women who are looking to connect with other moms. It can be helpful for those currently dealing with symptoms of postpartum depression/anxiety including low mood, irritability, crying, difficulty eating/sleeping, intrusive thoughts etc. This group will give you the opportunity to connect with other women and get support and education regarding postpartum mood, as well as strategies for coping, resources and referrals.
Life With A Baby offers HOPE groups for free to mothers, with therapists and peers, allowing mothers to thrive. The mothers have improved scores on depression scales, and report feeling better after completing the group. During the group sessions, the individual therapists are now available to meet individually with the mothers between sessions if they have things they need further help on.
The next session is starting May 29th! Find it on the event calendar.
