When do you do your laundry?

Is it not annoying that with the smart meter we are forced to do laundry on the weekend or off peek hours?????!!!! Arg....I do not want to do it on the weekend all the time saving up all the dirty clothes or in the evenings after 9 pm. It is frustrating when I am a stay at home mom and can not get things done during the day. I rebbeled today and did my laundry and folding during the day.

Phew.....How do you all feel about it?   :)

I hear you Tunde! It is annoying that we can't just get the laundry done during the day. I have enlisted hubby's help with this one. I usually go to bed at around 10pm, so I put the washing in the washer at 9pm and put a reminder on the stairs for hubby to put the wet clothes into the dryer when he goes to bed (usually around 11pm). This way, I can fold the laundry in the morning after breakfast.

It's a bit annoying but I'm getting used to it now. And I'm glad to get hubby more involved in the house chores!

p.s. there were initial problems though - hubby shrunk one of my favourite sweaters because I forgot to tell him not to put that one in the dryer! Oh well! Teething pain!

I've just given up on trying to get my laundry done before 9pm!  I do it on the weekends when I can and otherwise I do it during the day during the week.  I'm up at 5:30am every day and I just can't stay up that late to do laundry (kind of pathetic, but true). Sometimes my husband will do it late at night, but he's up early every day too.  The whole different rates thing is somewhat annoying, but I can see the benefits so I don't really mind.

I agree!  It is so annoying to be a stay-at-home mom and be forced to do laundry during family time in the evenings.  I either do some in the late evening and (as already posted) have my husband take it out of the dryer for me to fold the next day.  Or, I have a time delay on my washer so I set it to run early in the morning and then I pop it all into the dryer and it's done before 9 or 10am.  But that's one load every morning which is soooooo annoying!

But I also use cloth diapers and I have to say the diapers are done during the day because I need them and can't always wait until the evenings.  I also give in when we have busy weekends and I will do all the laundry on a week day regardless of the cost.  I feel terrible sometimes but then I consider that I run the dishwasher overnight and don't have the lights on during the day so I generally break even.  When I look at my bill, I am almost exactly even with the mid/high time periods, and I see that I still use most of the energy during the low times, so I'm satisfied.

I agree it's inconvenient now, but I have adapted.  I usually do my laundry once a week after 9pm & the remaining on the weekend.  It's get difficult when my son has several leeks during the days & then the smelling clothes pile-up!  I rinse right away & spray with oxyclean, but some of these clothes need to be cleaned right away, so that is the exception I make.

I do laundry at various times. Sometimes it's on the weekends but it's mostly one load because we are in and out doing family activities. I never seem to be able to co-ordinate the nights I'm up until 11 (like tonight) and when I need to do laundry.

For me, the best solution right now is Wednesdays during the day.  Evenings I want to spend some time with my daughter and then spend a bit of time with my hubby. After that, I usually head to bed.

On the few occasions where I decided to have hubby put the laundry to the dryer, I've forgotten it there for a few days and then it's so wrinkled I have to iron.

All other appliances are on delay and runs at night so I figure it balances out.
