    Hello,

I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions for a January birthday party for a 2 year old???

I would love to get an experience take on events, party places, time of party, etc...

Rule of thumb is to invite the same number of guests as the childs age.  2 for 2, really???

    Thanks,

    Corinne

We had our 2 year old's birthday party at My Gym (Bathurst/ Rutherford). Parents and kids had a fabulous time, and the staff were amazing in coordinating the kids, activities, cake, food, _everything_.

We attended other fun birthday parties at Dreams Playland on Rutherford Road, and Gymboree in Promenade and some in the home with more than just 2 friends. Organized activities (circle time, singing and puppets) were a big hit.

I think at age 2 it doesn't really make a difference as the kids don't play with each other, but more 'next to' each other!

maybe i'll think about having a few kids at our home and rent a popcorn and/or snowcone machine.  when do parties matter? ie. what age?

I had it at Frank Tomattoes - it was fun!  It's a buffet so the kids got a variety of finger foods, and the adults could eat regular foods.  I did it for immediate family and a couple of kids.

at 1 they are too young for an indoor playground.

For my son's 1 year old birthday, we had the party in our house. It's a familiar environment to him even though there were a number of strangers there. We invited 2 slightly older kids to come so that he wouldn't get too overwhelmed. I made some 1-year old friendly snacks (fruits, cheese cubes). Really the party was for the parents - my son wasn't really understanding what was going on. So my goal was to make sure that he wasn't too overwhelmed.

Any other suggestions for a first birthday party....?  Ideally we would like to have it at our house, but it just won't work for the number of adults / kids we would have.  Any other good places that do birthday parties (for kids from 1 - 7) in the thornhill area?
