So ladies, Ive started back to an excercise regime 3 times a week, that consists of light weights and cardio..and some adult time. I am really enjoying it and have lost some weight, but there is still about 20 odd that need to go. I am breast feeding so I dont want to do anything that is unhealthy for either of us. Have any of you made changes in diet? Or what are you doing that is helpful for the jelly belly excess that is still lingering? LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU

Hi Nicole.  You're on the right track, girl.  Just keep at it and never lose your momentum or motivation with your work-outs.  Soon enough, that odd 20 will be out.  May take a couple of months to see fantastic results but usually very gradual until 6 months perhaps.  As you said, breastfeeding and drastic dieting doesn't really mix because of the calories we need for milk production and keeping up with child-rearing.  Just be mindful of the combination of foods to maintain balance.  ;)  Are you keeping a work-out/fitness journal?

It's great that you get some time for yourself and getting fit at the same time! ;-)

I would like some suggestions on how to loose the excess fat at my tummy. I'm back down to my pre-pregnancy weight already but there is still a lot of excess fat under the loose skin at the lower tummy area. Any suggestions?

When Liam was still light enough for a carrier, I used to put turn music on, put him in a carrier and dance with him around the living room.. I felt that it's good musical and rythmical exposure for him, and I used to get some good exercise out of it. Especially when I would combine the dancing with the 'sit and stand' exerices, my legs got some good workout. As long as it's not too fast for the baby to bounce back and forth, I think it's a good technique. Try to move your mid section as much as possible (the latin beats really helped!).

Has anyone tried any of the Mommy/Baby workout videos? Any recommendations?  I am thinking of purchasing some online (tried Walmart, Sears and HMV and none of them have these DVDs).  I'm looking for something that involves baby because it seems like a great way to keep baby engaged and it's good for me.  We have ample time in the day to workout but just need suggestions on what can be done at home!

I also find it really hard to lose the excess luggage I have gained from pregnancy. I'm finally starting to see results with a healthy diet (I'm on the Hormone Diet) and also regular exercise. I found that SUNTV has yoga at 11:00am, so I tried to do that Monday-Wednesday while Christian sleeps. If he is still sleeping at 11:30am then I move onto the Barefoot Dancer, which is right after yoga. I'm not a big fan of buying DVD's since I own a lot of them and all they do is collect dust.

You might also want to try some of the mommy and baby fit classes in your area. I joined Baby Salsa  (great fun with the baby and great for the tummy area) and also Mommy Fit (that workout is a killer, but it has great baby time with singing at the last 30 mins of the class).

Hang in there... and keep a positive attitude. It will come off.

Thanks Adrienne!  I'll definitely check out the workouts on TV.  Where was the baby fit class that you referred to?  I live in the Richmond Hill area and was unable to find anything.  My 5 month old is almost 20 lbs so she's a little too heavy for the motion of dancing in a carrier (i.e. baby salsa) ... I regret not doing it when she was around 3-4 months!

Oh that stubborn belly fat!  You need to frequently engage the abs to rebuild the muscle to tuck it in, and engaging in cardio work-outs is the key.  Running will definitely help, and abs work-out routine that target the core. Watch out for the very sugary snacks too, it can really be very sneaky!  :D
