My baby is 4 months old and is waking up usually every 2-3 hours.   I nurse him and he goes right back to sleep (usually).  Sometime I will start nursing him and 5 minutes later he has fallen asleep.
    Any suggestions?

I have a 4 month old as well and we have just started to give him a little bit of rice cereal around his 7 oclock feeding.  He needs help washing it down with a bit of formula but he now sleeps through the night for me.  Well I still get the occasional diaper cry or need to give him his pacifier but that only takes a few minutes to fall back to sleep.  He goes down around 9 and usually gives me until 6.  When I started I put 2 teaspoons of the rice cereal right in his bottle.  Just don't buy the wheat cereal yet!  Hope this helps

I am still waiting for my 11month old to sleep through the night.  We have the occasional 4 hour stretch, but usually he only sleeps 2 or 3 hours at a time, less when he was sick.  Last night it seemed like every hour!  I removed the digital clock from my room so I wouldn't be so depressed by the number of times I was waking up.  My solution: new coffee maker!  Hang in there, one day they go to college...ahh.

    Hi there,
I also have a four month old that still wakes up in the middle of the night.  I know it is hard but what my husband and I do, I give him his last feeding usually at around 1 am and my husband will give him his next feeding at around 5.30 am before he goes to work so we both get to sleep a stretch of 7 hours.  I guess he will stop waking up when he does!
    Hope this helps,
    Stefania

My baby is 8 months old is exactly the same - she normally wakes up every 2-3 hours as well.  She will go back to sleep after I nurse her and sometimes she just takes a few suck and she'll roll her head back and go back to sleep.  A few weeks ago she started to wake up every hour.  I've tried "loading" her up with cereal/snack before bedtime too, didn't do much.

I figure she can't be waking up because she is hungry - more likely looking for comfort. So we started 'sleeping training' using the CIO method.  The first time it was really hard, I sat there holding her refusing to nurse her and she just got more and more upset so we put her down and closed the door, while I was crying on the other side. I couldn't do it.

A few weeks later we tried again, this time I was a little tougher.  The first night she cried for 1.5 hours and she went back to sleep on her own.  2nd night she woke up once cried about 30-40mins, 3rd night onwards she cries for about 5-10mins, some nights she only does a little whimper and goes back to sleep.

I know CIO isn't for everyone.  Trust me it was really hard and i thought it was harsh.  But it seems to have paid off.
