Are there any Vitamix-blending, green smoothie loving vegans out there? (Or anyone interested in learning about being vegan?) Would love to find people who share this common interest.

I'm not quite vegan but am definitely preparing and eating more raw and doing smoothies.
It's a process knowing what to buy, how to prepare foods and so on.
    Would love to connect!

....not vegan but vegetarian.  Any thoughts on how to deal with disapproving comments from the grandparents about raising achild without meat?

Oh wow, that's tough! They are set in their ways and you have a completely different perspective. You have to stand your ground and they need to respect your wishes. It's your children to bring up how you choose.

Try reading this (and the other 2 parts), maybe it will help:

Im a Semi-Vegetarian (I eat chicken and fish once a week to maintain a good iron level) and im also breastfeeding my 7 week old son and i find that my energy levels are just completely down.
I heard that a health smoothie would help but I have no idea on how to make one or what to put in it.
    Any one have any ideas?

Hi Caroline, here are some other websites that might convince them:

    Hi Zoey,

You could have a blood test to determine your iron levels and find out if that's the reason for the low energy.

you can find iron in spinach, dried apricot, raisins, Pumpkin seeds, quinoa, molasses... vitamin C aids in the absorption of iron, and calcium inhibits it, which means that you want to eat vitamin C rich food and try to avoid eating calcium-containing foods when you're eating food containing iron.  I sometimes take a spoonful of molasses with something high in Vitamin C.

Smoothies are just fruit in the blender to make a drink.  A green smoothie adds green leafy vegetables like spinach, romaine, kale, etc.  The idea is that green leafy vegetables have a lot of nutrients, but there's only so much salad you're going to eat. You can eat much more in a shorter time period if you liquify it in the blender. (Add water, greens, blend. Then add your fruit and blend).  You can find lots of recipes online, but basically 2-3 different fruits and a leafy green. The other thing to know is to rotate the greens (i.e. don't use spinach in every smoothie every day from now on).  This is why

    I hope that helps.
