General Information

  • Centre for Addiction and Mental Health - information on postpartum depression from Canada's largest mental health and addiction teaching hospital, as well as one of the world's leading research centres in the area of addiction and mental health.
  • Family Doctor - talk to your family doctor. If you do not have one, you can look for one using Ontario's Healthcare Connect

York Region and Toronto

  • Toronto Public Health - 416-338-7600 free services for women who are experiencing postpartum depression and anxiety
  • Toronto Distress Line 416-408-4357 - available 24/7

Programs

  • Women's College Hospital
  • East Toronto Postpartum Adjustment Program - community-based collaboration involving Alternatives East York Mental Health Agency, South Riverdale Community Health Centre, Toronto East General Hospital, and Toronto Public Health. The program is designed for women that have recently given birth or have adopted a child and are experiencing episodes of postpartum adjustment.

Counselling Services

  • Jewish Family and Child - counselling services for individuals or families who find themselves faced with critical difficulties

Postpartum Support and Care

  • Association of Ontario Doulas - a non-profit association committed to providing emotional and physical support for women during the childbirth process, and fostering a positive, informed birth experience

Haliburton

  • SIRCH (Community Services - Supportive Initiative for Residents in the County of Haliburton provides dozens of community-based programs and services in Haliburton County
  • Ontario Early Years Centre Haliburton Victoria Brock - The riding of Haliburton Victoria Brock encompasses Haliburton County, City of Kawartha Lakes (formerly Victoria County), Brock Township (part of Durham Region) and two municipalities of Peterborough County (Millbrook-Cavan-North Monaghan and North Kawartha)
  • Point in Time Centre for Children, Youth and Parents - provides supports and services to residents of Haliburton County

Kitchener-Waterloo-Cambridge

  • Grand River Hospital
    • Provides individual counselling, and weekly support group meetings run by a Social Worker

    • Grand River Hospital Crisis Clinic - 519-742-3611 This clinic is available on evenings and weekends. Please call the above number and ask for the crisis clinic
  • Cambridge Memorial Hospital provides Mental Health Services

  • Crisis Services of Waterloo Region - provides prevention, assessment, intervention and resolution services for urgent crisis situations in Waterloo Region

  • Carizon Family and Community Services - provides a comprehensive and integrated approach to the delivery of community services in the area of children’s mental health, youth engagement and development, family violence, individual and family counselling, credit counselling, settlement supports and collective wellness.
  • KW Counselling Services - a multi-service agency providing individual, family, group and outreach supports to the community.
  • The Holistic Parent magazine - for parents in Waterloo Region and surrounding areas. Published three times per year, The Holistic Parent focuses on natural health and wellness, as well as attachment parenting and gentle guidance.
  • Tania runs No Woman Left Behind Peer to Peer group, meets at wellness team on queen, 2nd Tuesday of each month 1030am-noon

Ottawa

  • Family Services Ottawa - The MOMS Group is a 10 week group program for mothers who are experiencing postpartum depression and/or postpartum anxiety
