Let's say religion doesn't exist in our society or, put it in another way, your religion doesn't say anything about it or you simply don't care.  Would you have your baby boy circumcised?

I have two boys who are both uncircumsized..for us our decision was made on the fact that it was their body...their decision. I'll let them decide if they want the procedure. I feel the same way about piercing a little girls ears. I have a daughter as well and I'll wait till she comes to me and asks to have her ears pierced.

That's a good insight.  I guess we have come to appreciate that children are individuals too.

Medically speaking, is there any benefit to dong it later in life or earlier in life?

I THINK the only "benifit" to doing it as a baby is that they dont remember the pain later...but even if they dont remember it....why would you want to put them through the pain at the time??? I fail to see how it is any different from female "circumcision" which is considered a form of genital mutilation...I wouldnt do it to my daughter if I had one...why do it to my son? My husband is circumcised and for that reason fought me a little on not doing my son but I wasnt backing down on this one. I totally agree with Dianne...If he wants to do it when he's older than thats his choice.
