My son is on day 6 of a pretty bad diaper rash.  I started out using A + D, rash got worst, now I am air drying and using penaten cream, seems to be getting a bit better.  Any suggestions on weather I should keep up with what I am using or try something different?

I know when my daughter was about 6 months she had an awful rash and i tried everything - - eventually after reading something on line about a yeast based diaper rash, i tried some monistat cream and within a day the red raw rash was gone.  My next visit would have been the doctors if that hadn't worked.

Just got back from Shoppers, that is exactly what the pharmasit told us to use, hopefully it will work.  Fingers crossed!

I have tried different diaper creams with my son and Penaten works the best for him. I notice that when he eats too much fruits he tends to get a diaper rash. So diet plays an important role for him as well.

    Hi Erin,
The safety superstore at STeeles and Dufferin (1600 Steeles Ave West) and Grassroots on BLoor street in the Annex sell a product called nappy oitment by a company called Bumbleweed (I think). It is in a silver round container with a yellow sticker on it. It is an amazing all natural product that my friends swear by for diaper rash. Good luck :) Mandy

I have a toddler and an infant and I swear by Ihle's Paste.  It is made by Life Brand and it is only available at Shoppers Drug Mart.  It comes in a huge tub and it is only $10.  The trick is that it can only be found in the First Aid section, not the baby section, even though the packaging says it is for diaper rash.  I use it for almost every diaper change and neither of my kids have developed a rash since using it.  This cream was recommended to me by my son's daycare provider after he developed a rash when he had diareaha.  I tell every new parent I meet about it!

here is a free professional advice::) Buy 1 tube of clotrimazole (clotrimaderm) cream also known as canesten and 1 tube of hydrocortisone cream 0.5% available at any pharmacy. Don't be scared if it says 'treatment of athletes' feet, jock itch, etc". it's all the same fungus that causes all these conditions.
Mix equal parts of clotrimaderm and hydrocortisone and apply to the diaper rash  about 3 times per day. You can apply some Desitine or any other zinc oxide cream on top and with the rest of diaper changes. The rash will be gone in 1-2 days.

Thanks for all the great advice!  We used, canesten twice a day and extra strength zincofax, cleared up in 3 days!  Amazing!!!

    wow great to know!!

I use DermaMed Baby for my son's bad rashes, and they clear up within a couple of days- I like it because it's all natural and safe for his allergies. It's expensive though- I buy it at Nature's Emporium in Newmarket
