when is it safe to start giving babies raisins to eat? My older daughter never liked them, so I don't remember.

Hi,

We happened to just introduce raisins to my son (13months) the other day. I made some carrot mini muffins that had some raisins in them. He really enjoyed them. For the recipe, it instructed taking the raisins and adding 1 tsp of water and then microwaving them so they plumped up a bit. I think that's what maybe made them easier for him to eat.

Raisins are not recommended for babies as they can easily choke on them... see attached link.

I'm trying to rememer but I think all 3 of my children were between 12 and 18 months when they first started with raisins.

At 8 months we were told to start with the Raisins...with much hesitation, i started giving J BIG. Jumbo Raisins broken in half at 10 months....he LOVES them now!

DD got her first raisins in raisin bread at daycare at 11.5 months and she LOVES them. I guess these are safe since they're baked in and mushy, not dry.

My daughter started eating raisons (raw) at 18 mts. I just supervise her when she is eating them.
