When your child is sick (cough, runny nose) do you keep them off all dairy products?

I will not give my daughter dairy products when there is vomitting involved. But generally, I won't enforce the intake of dairy products when she is sick.  Anyway, she doesn't like milk but will eat cheese.

dairy products create excess mucous which isn't good when you re sick...but I personally don't give my child dairy ever

I definitely notice less coughing and phlegm if I cut out dairy when my son is sick. Lots of water is what he needs anyways.  My pediatrician would say it doesn't matter, but I have seen a difference myself.

My kids are very very fussy, picky eaters and so prefer to drink liquids so I cannot escape giving them milk-based liquid meals. They need the nutrition that dairy provides. They just won't eat solids readily and do so a dairy-based diet is necessary. As for the mucous, well it is what it is. They will have less mucous once they are feeling well. Inflammation and mucous go hand in hand.

I am not particularly concerned because life is a cycle: sickness follows periods of well-being and vice-versa.

I actually give my daughter almond milk when she is sick because with dairy I find she will vomit. As well I stopped giving my daughter cow's milk and she drinks  goat's milk. I plan to do the same with second child.
