Hi, just wondering what ppl are feeding their infants for breakfast at 9-12 mths? My little guy is on infant cereal with some fruit, but he's losing interest in the cereal. I tried him with toast since it can be a finger food too, but he's not a huge fan. Any other suggestions?

My son 8 months.  He has only 2 teeth but chews well and can feed himself.  Here are the things in our weekly breakfast routine:
-infant cereal with fruit (vary the cereals, vary the fruits, and nothing is smooth... Always chunky pieces of fruit for texture)
-we share a banana every day, I cut him slices that he chews
-egg yolk (scrambled or fried and broken/cut into pieces)
-toast (cut in strips, he holds in his fist and gnaws on it, or I cut in small pieces and he picks them up).  Recently started dipping his toast strips in pureed fruit or yogurt for some moisture and flavour
-french toast (his dipped in egg yolk only), and then topped with pureed fruit
    -cottage cheese with fruit
    -yogurt with fruit

Hopefully there are some ideas in here you can use!

I started both my boys on regular old oatmeal before they turned one and both loved it (and still do all these months later!)  I used to put frozen blueberries or raspberries into the piping hot oatmeal, which cooled it off quickly and was an all natural sweetener.  I also used the oatmeal to add about a teaspoon of  NutraSea fish oil to their diet without having to force it down them!  Worked like a charm.

We have an 8 month old who loves to feed himself.  We still give him whole grain oats mixed with fruit or juice most days as well as whole wheat bagels, bread, papayas, mango, bananas and rice porridge.  I would like to start egg yolks and yogurt soon.  Good luck!

Have you tried pancakes?  I make my own and my LO loves them.

My daughter is just about 9 months... we do toast strips that she feeds herself, 1/2 banana cut lengthwise, yogurt (full fat) with fruit, pancakes, cheerios in formula (I let them get soggy and then put them on her tray and she feeds herself), fruit cut into pieces she can pick up and feed herself (strawberries, squashed blueberries, mango)... good luck!

    I alternate feeding the following:
    egg yolk mixed with tofu
    egg yolk with cottage cheese
grated fruit with cottage cheese or full-fat plain greek yogurt
    baby-friendly muffins or pancakes
    plain cheerios
I have some recipes on my website: www.bitesforbabies.com if you want to check it out! ;-)

My husband and I found sugar-free pancake mix at the health food store. We mix in a couple of eggs and add water instead of milk to the mixture. We also use the cheese grater and grate a couple of apples which we add to the mixture. This adds sweetness to this delicious breakfast. We have also grated soft fresh pear into the pancake mix. In addition, we bought some ground flax seeds and other ground grains and have added a couple of spoonfuls of these to the mix before frying the pancakes. Our baby has been eating about one of these pancakes per day -- he loves them! We simply cut them into thick strips and he eats them himself as they melt and crumble into his little mouth.
By the way, we have just learned for the public health nurse that the rules concerning eggs have changed. Apparently now babies over the age of 6 months can eat both yolks and whites. For more information, consult a medical professional.

Kamut puffs - they are organic and very inexpensive. I found a bag of them in the cereal isle at Loblaws for under $3.00. They look really plain and bland but I tasted them myself and they are actually really good to eat as cereal!

Throw some soft organic tofu into a blender and add some ripe pear. Blender the two ingredients and you will get a delicious sugar-free alternative to yogurt.
