Adding 1 Bottle of Formula for B-Fed Baby

    Hello!

My DD was exclusively B-Fed (occasional bottle of B Milk given by Dad) up to 6 months.
We've now started introducing solids (via BLW).

I am interested in adding 1 bottle of Formula (bed time bottle), in additional to regular B-Feedings and BLW meals.

Any recommendations regarding type of formula?

At 6 months I think that Jack Newman would recommend homo cow's milk over formula, especially if she's going to continue to be breastfed at other times.

We used Similac (powder form), but if you compare the nutritional labels of different brands of formula, the contents are actually quite similar.  Some are fortified with things like omega fatty acids, extra iron, and extra calcium.

Pediatricians, including mine, generally recommend homo milk at 1 year.  Ask your pediatrician to double check, or call Eat Right Ontario for free advice from registered dieticians (http://www.eatrightontario.ca/en/default.aspx or 1-877-510-5102).

This resource is published by the Government of Ontario and provides sample menu plans, and advice on feeding your baby from 6 months to 1 year: http://www.beststart.org/resources/nutrition/pdf/feeding_baby_rev2012_LR.pdf
