    Hello,

My daughter has had really bad ear infections all winter she is almost 14 months i finaly got to see a specialist on monday and he recomends we put tube's in her ears to drain the fluid that won't come out on it's own.

The tube's stay in there for up to 2 years and then come out on there own. she has developed an imunity to antibiotics so it does not really help anymore.

Has anyone done this to there child ? did it help ? were there any complications ?

I am not sure what to do ......

    Thank you

    Hi,

My son had ear tubes in when he was 18 months old.  Like your daughter he was proned to ear infections, every two weeks.  He also developed an immunity to the antibiotics as well.  Our Peditrican wouldn't refer us to an ENT specialist and when we finally switched to another Ped, he said my son should have seen an ENT doctor a long ago.  Anyway, the entire procedure was very quick and painless.  We had it done at Markham Stouffville Hospital.  He was back to his active self a few hours after surgery.  We had customized ear plugs made for him and were very careful when we washed his hair.  We also avoided swimming for awhile.  One of the tubes fell off after one year and the other one followed a few months later.  We noticed alot of differences with the ear tubes in - he was a much happier child and his vocabulary improved alot.  He is 4 and a half years old now and since the surgery he has had only one ear infection.  We continue to see the ENT every 6 months.

    Good Luck!

Hi , I would eliminate dairy that causes mucus and go see a naturopath. they do 10 surgeries a day for tube. sometimes I think it could be avoided without putting them under. My son also had this done, Dr. Alma Smitheringdale did my sons she is very nice.

Dr . jonathan beatty is the natural path I recommend.he is in Markham and most insurances cover it.
