Is your baby constipated?

My 9 month old has been constipated, meaning his poop would be hard and dry as rock sometimes.  May have been caused by his cereal diet so we cut down on oatmeal and bent more on wheat.  Reduced quantity per meal and gave more pureed veggie and fruits, increased milk intake in a day too.  So far we have made some progress, i.e. it has become a bit more like playdough.  But he's still having difficulty and makes a few attempts within a day before it goes.  Oh that red hard face.  Yeah, of course we consulted our pediatrician but gave the same advise on the diet.  Are there other home remedies out there that we can consider?

Not sure which fruits and veggies you're pureeing (I'm sure all are good) but prunes, prunes, prunes are very effective! Mix in cereal or if he likes it as it is... works wonders.
Naomi had a severe case of constipation when she started solids and after a disastrous attempt with suppositories recommended by a doctor, our naturopath recommended calc carb. Little pellets that she had no problem taking, and after a couple of days, bowel movements! Also, olive oil has been recommended to me. Not sure of the best way to give a toddler olive oil though... it's not exactly candy.

Prunes and calc carb - I'll give it a try!  Where did you get your calc carb?  Thankies!

My naturopath gave us the calc carob. If you don't have one, try the Health Food/Organics aisle at our Loblaws. We were actually surprised to find a few homeopathic remedies there that our naturopath prescribed. If not there, then perhaps a natural or health food store.
