Honey has its important nutritional value, anti-oxidants, and helps boost the immune system.  It tastes great, right, and a wonderful sweetener for anything.  For children, what age is the most suitable time?  What amount to start with?  When did you introduce honey to your baby and how?

The current recommendation is that honey should be introduced only after the baby is a year old.
As always when it comes to introducing new foods, always check with your child's doctor.

To Claire's point - we consulted with our pedi and he said after 1, which is what we did. First I smeared a bit on a spoon, then started adding to fruit drinks instead of sugar. Now I made decaf tea for the mornings and add instead of sugar.

When my kids were down with the flu, my doctor recommended to give it during the evening before bedtime to help soothe the dry cough and other aches & pains.  I had to clarify, too, esp with my 12 mos old.  And he gave a green light.
