Roseola (Yay!)

A high fever, irritability, a rash and internet research prompted me to take Olivia to the ER (all walks in were closed that long weekend) just to confirm that she had Roseola (since I had already diagnosed her - love the internet).

Yes, in fact she did have Roseola and all you can is keep them comfortable and wait it out.  Olivia was really irritable for about 5 days (which is not like her at all) and I knew exactly when it left her system because she started to laugh again.

A few months later, while at a Naturopathic appointment, I mentioned that Olivia had had Roseola and the doctor clapped 'yay Roseola!'.  Huh???  How come?  As it turns out, it's a wonderful viral bug to get for overall immune building/exposure and once it's gone, there is a great growth spurt that takes place.

So, flip the coin around if your little one has or had Roseola ... it's a good thing!
    Go figure.

OMG! The symptoms are quite scary - high fever, rashes...... seizures?!  I hope this info link helps, too: KIDS HEALTH which article was reviewed in 2009 by Joel Klein, MD (Chief, Division of Infectious Diseases -Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children -Wilmington, DE / Clinical Professor of Pediatrics -Jefferson Medical College -Philadelphia, PA)

I'm not too sure if I could also be as optimistic or positive when it strikes because the symptoms & risks and journey to recovery can feel like the Grim Reaper is hanging out at the porch. Yeah, getting sick from a viral infection can boost the immune system after the fact. But can we actually relax afterwards?
