Does my Baby have normal Poop?

I have a 12 week old baby that is breast feed. For the last 4 weeks or so I have noticed that he often/almost always has green or yellow-green poop. The poops have a somewhat slimy consistency. On average he poops 4 times a day. He feeds every 2-3 hours but usually only feeds on one breast anywhere from 5-10 minutes. I eat a pretty healthy diet with leafy greens, broccoli, rapini, cabbage etc. Does anyone know what causes the green poop and if I should be concerned?

If  I remember correctly, green poop can be a sign of foremilk imbalance. The La Leche League website has some information here - http://www.llli.org/FAQ/foremilk.html

I think the solution is so let the baby nurse longer on one breast so that s/he gets more hindmilk.

There's also a fantastic article on baby poop on Dr Jay Gordon's website - http://drjaygordon.com/pediatricks/general/poop.html

Thank you so much for the links you posted Debbi! I did a lot of research and I do think that my issue is that my baby was getting too much foremilk and not enough hindmilk.  I have rather high milk production and I was pumping as well so I believe that this increased my milk production even more. I have reduced the amount of pumping I do now to only as needed and I am making sure that my son gets as much of the hind milk as possible on one breast before i put him on the other breast (sometimes he feeds on the same breast two times in a row). Things have improved, usually 2 yellow poops followed by 2 green poops. We are sending some stool samples to the lab and possibly visiting a pediatrician. If I have anymore updates I will post them. Thank you again!
