Scared About Going Into Labour Alone

I have a 2 1/2 year old and a 1 year old and I'm due with baby three in 4 weeks... my husband and I just bought a new house and his travel time to or from work is now 30 minutes. My first child was a home, water birth with a 4 hour labour with 15 minutes of pushing. My second child was a home, bed birth with a 2 hour labour with 7 minutes of pushing, after an 8 hour, over night run of false labour 5 days prior to my actually going into labour.  We are planning another home birth and I am absolutely terrified that I will go into labour while I am home alone with my two children and no one will be able to get here before I give birth. I have been having extremely painful Braxton Hicks contractions for about two months already and feel like my labour will be fairly quick again this time.
Am I being irrational? Has anyone else been afraid of going into labour alone? Has anyone gone into labour alone and how did it go?

Hello Cassandra, my name is Daniela. I don't have too much experience since I only have one baby, but if I can give you a humble opinion and encouragement, I would have to say that I think it is completely normal to feel scared. Nonetheless...It seems to me, from what you share, that you have been very well prepared in the past and have an excellent record of good deliveries, so you shouldn't worry too much :)

Now, by being alone, do you mean just not being with your husband when labour begins? I'm sure you most have some other support person that can come to you faster when the time comes, like a doula, relative or close friend. If not, you may want to consider enlisting a few people in your speed dial that will be available.

I'm sure you will be ok and I wish you all the best with your 3rd baby!

    Bye, Daniela
