    Hi ladies,

I'm looking for a f/t live-out nanny in east Markham to start around January 1st. We are in an emergency situation since I just broke my elbow and cannot care for my 8 month old child by myself. My husband is home for the holidays for now but will be returning to work at the beginning of January.  I need someone to watch her f/t and do housekeeping tasks. We can't use an agency since they take too long. Does anyone have any recommendations for a nanny that they know who is looking for work??

    Thanks,
    Randi

I too was in desperate need for a nanny awhile back too! I found www.nannyservices.ca  they have nannys and mother';s helpers listed. You sign up free and look for people who fit your profile. You can contact them via email or phone right away.  I had 3 immediate responses (for Pt overnight help which is much harder to find). The ladies were all very nice and had references ready.  We never went through with the nanny.  I was lucky enough to have my Mother in law help out.  I really liked this website and what is has to offer.  Good luck!

Thanks Laura! We have been using this site and we think it's great! I might be hiring someone who contacted me through this site!

I posted an add on Kajiji once and got several response within a day or two.  Just be specific as to what your needs are.  There are many qualified people looking for work, as a lot of daycares have downsized and gotten rid of assistant ECE's.  Good luck with that!

    Nanny/babysitter?
    Hi Ladies,

The nannies that you have tried - can you recommend any? I have a hard time trusting a person off the street, and unfortunately my hubby and I have no one to watch the kids in the evenings once a month so we can sneak out to a movie or something. It would be great if you could recommend?

    Thanks a bunch!

The nanny we used (and adored) is no longer working as a nanny.  She moved to Alberta to continue her career in dental hygiene.  Sorry!  But if you're just looking for a once a month kind of thing, they do have services that offer that kind of nanny service.  We hired a doula for when my second child is due in December and her company (we are using the owner as our doula) is called Nannies and Doulas on Call.  They can be found online.  There are other similar services found in the GTA. I know that it's tough using someone off the street for a couple's evening out.  But maybe using a service (although more expensive) might make you feel better as they're CPR/First Aid certified and have a criminal background check.  Hope that helps!
