Back up Childcare when your child is sick

Has anyone found a solution to this in the OakRidges/Aurora/Newmarket area?

I did call In a Pinch but they suggested that it was unlikely one of their ladies would come this far north.   I'm sure I'm not the only one with no family in the area that has a need for this service.  I just know the first time my daughter needs to be home from daycare due to illness is going to be a day where both my husband and I have an important meeting or something we can't get out of!!

Any creative solutions you've come up with that you could share?

    Thanks!

I'd also be interested to find out what anyone knows about last-minute childcare.  And when I go back to work after Christmas, I'll need childcare on Saturdays - anyone have any ideas/suggestions about this, too?

These are the options I found when I was looking. I haven't actually used any of them so I cannot give any recommendations.
Both agencies provide last minute babysitting services.

Here is another agency I came across at the Vaughan Mompreneur Showcase this weekend.

It is a challenge - my husband and I usually split the day if we can or if the illness is extended (as it often is if there is fever) we split one day home, one day at the office and eventually call Grandma if it really drags on.

I was really worried when I went back to work - but now my son is 3 - and really, people do understand that sick kids happen, especially in daycare.

I manage to get my work done (sometimes a lot falls into my own time) but my boss respects that.

I don't think there's a one-size fits all solution to the dilemma of sick kids and 2 working parents.

    Good luck!

Well, now that cold season has hit, we may need to revive this discussion!  I have a 14month old that is on the tail end of her third cold this season already.  I am on the hunt for someone that provides emergency sick child care assistance in the Concord/Thornhill area.  Any recommendations?  I'm searching the web now.  Have called In a Pinch and was told that they don't really work much off of the subway line / TTC.  They might or might not find someone that would be willing to come to my house.  Not a very reliable back up plan!  Anyone have good experience with an agency or person that works in this area?  Please help!  At wits end....

I also contacted "Custom Comfort Care" and was told that they are increasing staffing in this area, but that I need to register before requesting service.  There is a $70 registration fee and after that child care for one sick child is $25 per hour.  Ouch!  Maybe that's typical, but I still have a bit of sticker shock about it.  If I'd had to go with that option this week, we'd be up to $800 in fees already :(
