Has anyone found a childcare provider through Wee Watch or York Professional? What's been your experience, and would you recommend it.

We live in Maple and we're thinking of either contacting Wee Watch or York Professional

We have a wonderful lady through Wee Watch in Richmond Hill.       I  interviewed 3 when I was looking.   2 I would have left my children with, one I would not.  I like their program and home visit process and our daughter is loving it.

Oh, good, I'm glad to hear that you found someone wonderful through the agency.

Can you go into a little more details to what was it about the one lady that you didn't trust at all? Was it just gut instinct or where there certain things that left you uncomfortable?

When I came in, all the kids were in front of the TV.  Then she told me that she was vegetarian, but she would cook chicken fingers for the kids - - that didn't sit well with me as good nutrition.      She also told me she had left her last job at a bank (where I also work) as it was too stressful - - I think looking after a group of toddlers is probably the most stressful of jobs so that worried me.

She had only been with Wee Watch for 5 months, where as the other 2 ladies had been with them for 5 or more years so I figured she wouldn't last too long.  So overall, it was these and gut that told me no.

    Good luck with your search!

We really enjoyed the provider we found with Wee Watch North York. We interviewed 5 and settled on a former teacher who also had worked in a large daycare. The option to have back up care with another provider if ours was off sick was great. Again finding a good fit was key and we met some ladies we would not trust.

    Good luck!

Maybe I got confused when I originally talked to the lady at Wee Watch, do you pay a one time registration fee and they send you to multiple interviews to different providers until you find the one you like, or do you pay per provider listing they give you?

My daughter has been with Wee Watch In Richmond Hillr almost 2 yrs.  You pay a one time fee and interview as manyproviders as you can.  I interviewed 4 providers before choosing one.  They have a structured routine they follow each day that includes a teaching program, free play, arts and crafts and structured pay.  At 2 yrs, my dtr knows her alphabet, as letter recognition, count to ten andis learning her numbers from 11-20.   We have had a few bumps along the way, but overall, we ate pleases with the care my dtr has been getting through wee watch.

Thanks for the clarification on the fee. I think I got confused and thought I had to pay per provider I interviewed... I'm actually glad to see so far the many moms that are using home childcare...I must admit I've only heard horrifying stories in regards to home childcare and that's where I'm getting my anxiety from...
