A recent article on bounty.com did a survey amongst parents to determine the combination of children that would make up their ideal family unit.

Following is the list, in decreasing order of parental happiness:

    1. Two girls
    2. One boy and one girl
    3. Two boys
    4. Three girls
    5. Three boys
    6. Four boys
    7. Two girls and one boy
    8. Two boys and one girl
    9. Three boys and one girl
    10. Three girls and one boy
    11. Two boys and two girls
    12. Four girls

    What do you think?!

Hey, how about those with only one child? (just kidding).

Most of my friends with 2 kids want to have one boy and one girl.  I personally prefer girls and I am so thankful to have an adorable girl.

Did they say what are the criteria for establishing this list? What about the difference in age of the siblings? And Denise is right, where are the single child families? :-)

This is the most ridiculous article I have come across in a long time.

If this is the quality of articles brought to our attention by administrators of this forum I have to say I am embarrassed to have signed up with Life with a Baby.  I was hoping for a slightly more intellectually stimulating forum.  I cannot believe out of all the wonderful parenting research/articles out there you chose to pick this ridiculous, poorly done study to show something which demonstrates a clear lack of critical thinking.

I didn't know I was reading the national inquirer!

Yes, I agree this is a crazy article! You don't get to choose the sex of your children (as far as I know!), and everyone is happy with what they have.

There are many great articles on many sites out there, and I'm sure members have read most of them and perhaps commented on those articles directly (so there's no point in duplicating it here). I don't even recall how I came across this article, but I thought it would spark some responses - which it has!

Please feel free to start new discussions on any other topics/ articles/ research that you find interesting.
