When babies endlessly cry, we usually resolve that they're colic. So we head off to the nearest drug store to get gripe water, or what have you. But according to the dictionary - I stumbled on it, literally - it says that condition is pretty serious:
"a
condition characterized by acute spasmodic abdominal pain, esp that caused by inflammation, distention, etc, of the gastrointestinal tract" ~ WHAT?!
And from the Medical Dictionary:
1 : an attack of acute abdominal pain localized in a hollow organ or part (as the small intestine, ureter, or bile duct) and often caused by spasm, obstruction, or twisting
2 : a condition marked by recurrent episodes of prolonged and uncontrollable crying and irritability in an otherwise healthy infant that is of unknown cause and usually subsides after three to four months of age ~ THIS WE KNOW ALREADY.
Call it random thought, but I thought I'd share it to you so you would know some questions to ask your pediatrician.
