    Hey girls,

There is a lot in the media about use of sunscreens, some say they are essencial and some say they are more harmful then helpful because of the ingridients they contain.

I would like to hear from your thoughts on this topic and how you protect your baby during summer months and what sunscreen products are you using if at all.

My nurse said that until 6 months you shouldn't use any. Mine is almost 6 m and i tried Beaulance from Ambrosia. It's good for skin, but hard to say how much protection it gives because i also use the shades all the time.

I'm using Earth's Best Mineral Sunblock from Jason Organics, but I find it too thick and not easy to spread on the body, also it makes skin look white.

There is a very good site www.cosmeticdatabase.com that rates all the cosmetic products and their ingridients. I will check the one you mentioned.

    Thanks,

I'm using Earth's Best from Ambrosia, this is more of a physical suncreen, it seems pretty good, but it has a white chalky look to it, most of the time I don't mind the apperance but if I'm taking her out for the day and I have to put it all over her body, it looks a bit funny :-)

It would be nice to have something that blends a bit better, have anyone tried California baby? I heard good things about it.

The Beaulance line of products is fantastic. I used it on Naomi when we went to Cuba. It provided great protection and spreads so easily AND does not give that chalky look. I plan on using it on myself next time. I've used oil-free sun lotions on myself and hate the look but Beaulance is great. The ingredients are all natural. Not cheap but well worth it. I also started using their skin care products (cleanser, toner, moisturizer) and they work well. These can be found in Ambrosia and the owner sells them in the Village Organic Market as well. Oh, and I actually never and have never used sunscreen on my little girl except when I was in a tropical country. A bit of sun does a lot of good. I protect her with hats, the stroller shade and try not to walk out with her too long when it's over 30 degrees.

Hello ladies. Try the Badger products from Ambrosia or Fiesta Farms or anything from Grass Roots on Bloor. Just make sure there is no oxybenzone in the product as this actually actracts the sun's rays.
    Cheers
