Sometimes my baby shakes & trembles while nursing

Sometimes my 6 month old baby would shake and tremble slightly when she is nursing on my breast.

This happens when she is feeding on my breast & is half a sleep. The shake lasts for about 15 to 20 seconds. It happens 2 to 3 times a week and it started when she was about 4 months old. I spoke to the doctor about this & she doesn't think it's something to be concerned about - even though she is not too sure why it's happening (??? but I should tell her when it gets more frequent or becomes very strong).

One of my friend told me that the same happened with her daughter (who is now 16 months) & she out grew it. But she does not know what caused it.

Has any one of you noticed the same thing with your baby? Is there a reason why this happens?

    Hi Lucy,

I heard that this can be normal, babies at this age don't have control over their limbs.

My daughter Melissa was crying without any particular reason when I was nursing her too, noone could explain why and what was bothering her, she just grew out of it.

I hope your baby grew out of it, but the time I reply to your message ;)

I bottle feed my baby breastmilk and she sometimes will quiver for about 5 seconds if she is falling asleep.  She did it twice last week but hasn't done it since.  She's 4 months old.

If your baby has fallen recently, say from his crib or the sofa, I would definitely be concerned but if not, just keep calm when or if it's still happening.  Your post is from a few months ago so hopefully everything is ok :-)

    Hi,

Thank you for your feedback. My baby is now 13 months & her shaking / quiver went away on it's own by 8/10 months. I haven't seen her shake in the past couple of months. I guess it was nothing serious. Cheers!
