Has anyone been to Curves http://www.curves.com/

The claim is: "Curves provides you with a complete cardio and strength training workout in just 30 minutes. With a system that can burn up to 500 calories and work every major muscle group, you get an efficient and effective workout every visit'

Does it work and how quickly ;) Also, what are the costs (I can't find this information anywhere).

I believe you can get a free week's trial - would anyone be interested in coming with me? I'd consider going to either the Maple (Keele/ Rutherford) or Thornhill (Bathurst/ Centre street) location.

    Hi Debbie,

I was at curves a few years ago. It was agreat beginner workout to get me started I know they have changed things a bot. The only thing for me was that it never really gets harder you can't add more resistance. I would love to a one week free trial since I live so close to the centre/bathurst location and could really use a jumpstart in the workout area of my life but I have nowhere to leave the kids at the moment. I also liked that there was no contract with them since I quit after I felt like the workout was getting too easy. it was about 30 per month when I went.

I really liked Curves for two reasons:

    1) It was a great beginner workout.  I was not 'over weight', but I was not in good shape.  It got me going.

    2) The main reason I thikn #1 was true was because it really is half an hour.  When I went, a few years ago, it was about $50/month.  There were small changerooms, and one smallish size circut workout room - thats it!  Nothing to keep you dillydallying (i.e. showers etc) So it really is IN and OUT!  I liked that - although $50 for no very much.

There is a circuit with machines and pads between each - so everytime there is a beep in the music, you rotate.  If you are already into working out in some capacity, I would think this is probalby not for you.

After joining Curves for a year, I switched to Goodlife.  Their classes are awesome and fun.  There is also more variety.  The hours at either Curves of Goodlife for WOMEN aren't great though.  Goodlife isn't much more expensive than Curves.
