    Hiya mommies,
I just moved to the Dufferin & Rutherford area from Bathurst & Steeles... what a difference!  In order to get anywhere I have to drive :-(  Now I know there are moms out here!  I see the kid toys.  Any LWAB members with a 2 yr old or older?  I want to do a weekly playgroup with singing, Rhymes, Reading etc.  My daughter is almost three so I want to have a structure playgroup where she can learn while playing and make some new friends for both of us.  If you are interested please post your comment and your child's age. Also what day of the week and time is best.

Also, what is there to do with kids around here?  I want to start her in a dance class. any community centres around here.  Any nice walking trails?

    HELP!!! thanks
    Claire

    Hi Claire,

I am in the Dufferin and Major Mackenzie area but my little guy is not even 3 months old.

There are various things taking place at the Maple Community Centre/library (north of Major Mackenzie, on Keele) - I've signed us up for the Mother Goose program that starts in April but I think your daughter is too old for that.  Check out their other programs though.

and then there are programs at the Richmond Hill central library as well.

As far as trails in this area, I would like to know of some too, I am also fairly new to the area.

    Hi Claire,

Although you do know about us, I think I'll add anyway.

There is a new beautiful community center will be opened in July on Dufferin and Autum Hill and already possible to register to programs.

For the play dates Tue, Wed, Thu at 16:are great for us.

Hope to see you this week,
    Jenny and Laura

The Ontario Early Years Centre offers free programs for caregivers/children from brith to age 5.  The Thornhill Centre is at Bayview and John.  The Richmond Hill Centre is at Elgin Mills and Bayview.

    Hi Dee,

I have an 11 week old daughter.  I live in Thornhill Woods and would love to get together for a play group, walk, etc...

Also Forest Run PS (it's far, but walkable distance from you) has some good programs.

    Hi Jenny (& Laura),

Could you provide contact information of the new centre that you wrote about?

I am not sure where to look for it.

    Claire,

I am interested in weekend playdates as you know, but Eva is just 1 year old.

If there are other moms in our area that would like to meet for playdates on the weekend, I would love to meet you. I am ready to commit to regular playdates or just meeting once in a while. My daughter is at home with a nanny and will definitely benefit from more socialization.

Looking forward to hearing from you!

    Anna
