You're probably like me who spent hours and hours thinking and imagining a cute little face with the perfect name who will "rock" (yeah, with all the metaphor, pun, and literal meaning, haha!) my world.

My eldest, Jodi Summer = being a big fan & admirer, I practically loved Jodie Foster ( I took the "e" away, can't quite remember why) and it wasn't too common like its not in the top 20 baby names; and because she was born in summer - aside from being the most awesome season, I also thought of that beachbomb chick Summer in Baywatch. This name will bring her places someday.

As for my other kids, I'll save up that chat for a little later. I'm gonna get comfy in my chair for awhile and I wanna hear yours.  ;~)

My little guy is Bennet Reid -- he is named after his grandmas - Bennet and Reid and my and my husband's mother's maiden names!

"Bennet Reid" sounds very classy. I find it so cool to name kids after their predecessors.  There's great charm and pride in it, esp if you're the grand relative referred by it. What's even more awesome is when you're still alive to hear it. :D

As a little girl, I always dreamed to be called Laura, so I named my daughter.
Besides akronim with our last name makes it LA, that kind of cool.

Right on, LA makes a great short name esp when she's a teenager like "hey L.A. wanna chill..." coolness, I agree.  MmmMM, Laura - made me crave for chocolates (Laura Secord).
If only we can choose our names. As a little girl I wished to be called Isabelle.  But my mom would always say she had gone through some great lengths to find the name she likes best. Ok, I may have to agree now that I'm in the same shoes.  :D

My Children's names are Forest Grey, Madeleine Sky (goes by Sky), and Ever Light Bloom.  I intentionally chose beautiful, powerful names for all my children.  My last one even got her own last name (different from mine and her father's) because neither of us felt attached to our surnames, and we wanted her not to be saddled with any of her names "by default."  I think I may actually take her last name for my own when I have some extra cash for the name change.

My two older kids love the names I chose for them, and I hope little Ever will feel the same.  I put a lot of thought and love into the choosing, but if any of them later feel that some other name suits their current state of development better, I will not be offended.

    :-)

I totally digg this.  Were these names translated from chinese characters or did you decide from English per se?  You see, my girls have chinese names which direct translation to English would be "Bright Pearl"  and the other "Shining Pearl."  I have no idea exactly how their names were translated but the old and wise relatives knew.  I'm yet to find out how it would turn out for my little guy.  Have you noticed how kids will always find ways to evolve their names into something really cool should they not agree with you/us when they're older?  Really, how much is it for a legal change of name?

My daughter is Mikaela Anne. When I was pregnant we fought over names. I like boy names for girls and he like everything to do with twilight, right down to naming the baby Cullin, if she was a boy. I was craving Cinnabon all the time, one day my husband came to me and said "how about Mikaela, if you say yes we can go get a cinnabon" I thought it was a cute name, not very common. Little did I know it was Megan Fox's name in transformers. He also liked Megan, I said no because well he liked Megan fox, should have done more research on Mikaela. But I love the name no matter what!

And Anne is after my Grandmother, my mom actually wanted to call me Anne, and settled on Sara Ashley, two of the most common names in the late '80's! Go mom lol

I don't speak or read Chinese (much to my chagrin!) so my kids names are English.  I am not sure what a name change costs in Canada (I am from the US) but I am sure it isn't too expensive.  I will be checking into it...
