We've been warned of potential harm to the fetus or the breastmilk by chemicals in hair colour/dye.  Is there any truth to it?  Have you had one yet, during or after the pregnancy?  How soon?

    Hi Nina,

I'm a hairdresser. I didn't colour my hair until 12 weeks postpartum. Highlighting should be ok if no toner is used. I don't colour my hair a lot..about once every 4 months or so. I don't think the chemicals go into the milk.

Thanks, Tania for your insights.  I had my hair colour done around the same time as yours and I guess its pretty OK.  I'm still timing the highlights and I'll keep your tips in mind abt the ingredients.  I'll let you know should I come across any more info. Perhaps it can be enlightening especially when pregnant or lactating moms come to you to get their hair done.
