New Brunswick  - Day 2 : departing from Saint John to St. Andrews.

The adults were very excited about St. Andrews and wanted to get there early to enjoy the sunshine so we left right after breakfast.  Breakfast was delicious and included in the package at Hilton Saint John.  If you decide to make your own waffles, read the instructions carefully. Otherwise it will just start beeping like when I tried, and it will annoy the entire restaurant ;).  The waffles were delicious and worth the fuss.

IMG_20150809_201514The kids were happy to know they would only be in the car for about an hour and a half.   We arrived in St. Andrews and went straight away to check in at the hotel.  Luckily our room was ready and we were able to do an early check in.  We stayed at The Algonguin, which is one of the most happily situated places I’ve ever been.  Sitting at the top of a hill, overlooking the sea, and surrounded by beauty.  It was hard not to immediately fall in love with breathtaking beauty of The Algonguin.

While I was entranced by the beauty of the place, both inside and out.    My kids were in love with the water-slide, and pool.  Needless to say we all spent a lot of time in the water.  The outdoor pool was very pretty to look at, but we didn’t venture in.  There was one day when it was very hot, and we could have stayed outside but the kids really wanted to be indoors so they could use the water-slide.

IMG_20150809_145850After happily spending the afternoon in the pool and exploring the resort facilities, we went to Kingsbrae Garden.  Our favourite places in the garden included the children’s garden, the rose garden, and the edible garden.  We spent most of our time in the edible garden & the children’s garden.  The kids really enjoyed playing in and around the miniature houses.   The Kingsbrae Garden offers a great variety of things to do, outside of walking through the garden.  The little zoo was also great for the kids, and kid at heart.  They also have a great café if you want to stop for a bite.

I really liked that the Kingsbrae Garden was just a short two minute drive or 10 minute walk from The Algonguin.   After the gardens we went back to the room for dinner and then walked along the grounds.  The kids & I were tired so it was IMG_20150809_160045an early bedtime for us.

I'm glad that I took the chance to go and workout in the fitness centre. I found keeping up my exercise routine really helped to manage some of the stress involved when travelling for a long time with little ones.

Day 2 was a very relaxing, chilled day.  The kids still talk about the minature houses, and all the fun they had at Kingsbrae Garden.
